My wife and I were at a winery in the middle of a cornfield in Iowa. I saw the dead tree on the way in and liked it. After talking to the owner, he told me the tree was killed in a tornado. When we were leaving I was looking for a good shot of the tree, when I saw the light reflecting of the dirt road, I knew I had the shot I wanted. I didn’t want just the dead tree, and there was no good angle for the sunset, so the road saved me.
